Highlanders roll over Our Lady of the Lake JV
The Highlanders faced the Our Lady of the Lake Developmental squad in the nightcap of the McLennan Classic, coming away with the 124-83 victory over the Saints.
It was all Highlanders to start as McLennan opened on an 8-0 run including a dunk from Cedric Kelley to fire up the crowd. Our Lady of the Lake kept it close through the first six minutes of play, trailing 16-15 with 14:10 to play in the half. The Highlanders broke the game open with a 12-0 run over the next three minutes, 28-15. McLennan kept the Saints at arm's length down the stretch and held the 63-51 lead at the half.
The second half was much the same. Our Lady of the Lake trailed by 10, 76-66, with 13:54 remaining in the game. The Highlanders used a 14-2 run to extend the lead to 18 at 86-68 with 11:37 to play. The Saints trimmed the lead to 15 a couple times midway through the half but McLennan continued to pour in the points as they cruised to the easy victory.
AJ Barnes led the Highlanders in double figures with 17 points and Mason Lockhart chipped in 16. Jaylen Thompson and Nick Shogbonyo scored 13 and 13, respectively. CJ Hall added 11 and Omarion Smith scored 10.
