Highlanders top SWCC
The McLennan Highlanders crushed the Southwestern Christian 96-56 in the late game.
It was a low-scoring first half between the men's squads. The game began with a Class B technical foul on the Rams, giving the Highlanders a 1-0 lead before any time came off the clock. Chris Pryor added a shot for McLennan and the Highlanders wer eoff and running. The Highlanders built a seven-point lead at 9-2 with 16:15 to play in the first half and held that lead for the next four minutes. Southwestern Christian began to chip away and pulled within one, 15-14, with 8:43 remaining in the half. The Highlanders used a 12-1 run over the next three minutes to create some distance between the two squads. McLennan led by 16 down the stretch and held the 37-26 lead at intermission.
McLennan poured on the points in the second half as Southwestern Christian ran out of steam.
All the Highlanders scored in the contest. Lorenzo Anderson and Cameron Copeland scored 19 points each. Akili Vining and Rodrique Massenat scored 14 and 10, respectively.
