McLennan Highlanders conquer Hill
The McLennan Highlanders defeated the Hill Rebels 63-52 on the road tonight in Hillsboro.
Tyler Kinghorn began the scoring with a pair of free throws less than a minute into the game. A Chris Pryor steal followed by a Lorenzo Anderson layup for the Highlanders tied the two teams traded baskets and the game was tied at six with 16:17 to play in the half. Hill used a 5-0 run to build a five-point lead at 11-6 less than two minutes later. McLennan took control and rattled off an 18-1 run including 12 points from Rodrique Massenet and six from Cameron Copeland to take the 24-12 lead. The Highlanders extended the lead to 15, 29-14, with 6:51 to go in the half. Hill began to rally, using an 11-0 run to pull within four with four minutes remaining before the half, 29-25. McLennan ended the half on a 7-1 run to lead by 10 at the break, 36-26.
The Highlanders continued to dominant in the second half. McLennan held Hill to just five free throws in the first nine minutes of the half. The Highlanders scored 13 points in that time frame to take the 49-31 lead. McLennan continued to pull away, leading by as many as 23, 61-38. Once again, Hill made a run late. The Rebels used a 14-0 run to pull within nine with 1:30 to play, 61-52. Chris Pryor added a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.
Rodrique Massenet led the Highlanders with 23 points. Cameron Copeland and Chris Pryor added 19 and 10, respectively.
