Highlanders crush Coyotes
The McLennan Highlanders smashed the Weatherford Coyotes 106-60 tonight in Weatherford.
An Asare Otchere layup began the scoring for McLennan. It was clear from the first minutes of the contest that the Highlanders would control the tempo. Weatherford struggled offensively from the start, allowing the Highlanders to pull away. The Highlanders led 14-7 with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. Tyrese Taylor and Cameron Copeland combined for a 7-0 run to give McLennan a double-digit lead at 19-7. The Highlanders continued to distance themselves from the Coyotes, using a 13-4 run over the next four minutes to go up by 21 points, 30-9. Weatherford found some offense late in the half but McLennan would lead 55-30 at intermission. With the game already in hand, the Highlanders poured on the points in the second half. The Highlanders outscored the Coyotes 51-30 in the half to put the icing on the cake.
It was a balanced scoring attack for McLennan with all players scoring including four in double figures. Cameron Copeland led the way with 26 points and Lorenzo Anderson added 22. Rayquan Brown and Chris Pryor scored 13 and 10, respectively.
