Highlanders squeak out win at SWCC
The Highlanders squeaked out the 60-53 win over the SWCC Rams Wednesday in Terrell
It was a low scoring first half. McLennan opened the game on a 12-2 run to take the early 10-point lead. Southwestern Christian rallied to cut the lead to six, 18-12, with 8:19 remaining in the half. The Highlanders responded with a 7-0 run capped off by a Chris Pryor three-pointer from the elbow to extend the lead to 13. McLennan would then hold the 27-17 advantage at the break.
McLennan extended the lead to 15, 36-21, with 16:35 remaining in the game. Southwestern Christian began to chip away at the lead, cutting it to two, 41-39 midway through the half. Once again the Highlanders used a run to keep the Rams in check. A layup by Lorenzo Anderson started the 8-0 run to put McLennan back up by double figures. Southwestern Christian pulled within four with 48 seconds to go, 56-52, but that would be as close as they could get.
Chris Pryor led the Highlanders with 16 points. Lorenzo Anderson and Asare Otchere added 13 and 11, respectively.
