Highlanders get win over Collin
The Highlanders and Cougars took the court in the later game, with McLennan getting the 79-68 victory.
Collin began the contest shooting one shot following a pregame technical foul but Mason Hix wasn't able to connect for the Cougars. The Highlanders opened the game on a 9-2 run including four points from Rayquan Brown. Collin cut the lead to one, 14-13, with 11:44 to play in the first half. McLennan used a 12-0 run highlighted by a pair of layups by Tre Thomas to break the game open, 26-13. The Cougars chipped away at the Highlander lead, cutting it to one at 35-34 with two minutes to play in the half. Thomas hit a 3-pointer for McLennan and a Lorenzo Anderson layup gave the Highlanders the 40-34 lead at intermission.
McLennan opened the second half on a 7-0 run capped off by another Thomas 3-pointer, extending the lead to 13. Collin rallied again and cut the lead to seven midway through the half. Brown and Chris Pryor combined for a 5-0 run to put the Highlanders back up by double digits, 64-52 with 6:49 remaining in the game. The Cougars kept fighting at cut the lead to six, 74-68, on an Orion Virden 3-pointer with 1:38 to play. A Chris Pryor 5-0 run put McLennan back up by 11 and seal the win.
Lorenzo Anderson led the Highlanders with 16 points. Chris Pryor and Rayquan Brown scored 15 points each. Tre Thomas had 10.
