Highlanders tame Tigers
The McLennan Highlanders opened the game with a Rodrique Massenat 4-0 run and never looked back as they smashed the Paul Quinn JV Tigers 107-44 tonight at The Highlands.
It was all Highlanders from the opening tip. McLennan led 8-5 with 16:56 to play in the first half. An 8-0 run with buckets from Tyrese Taylor. Scot Ator, Massenat and Claven Wilson gave McLennan its first double-digit lead of the night at 16-5 with 14:17 on the clock. Isaiah Wyatt added a 3-pointer from the elbow to push the run to 11-0 and extend the lead to 14, 19-5. Paul Quinn cut the lead to 12 before the Highlanders used a 20-0 run to put the game out of reach. McLennan held the Tigers scoreless for eight minutes of the first half and built a 49-15 advantage at intermission.
Paul Quinn quickened its scoring pace in the second half but couldn't match the prowess of the Highlanders.
Cameron Copeland led the Highlanders with 17 and Rodrique Massenat scored 16. Rayquan Brown and Scott Ator added 13 and 12, respectively.
McLennan travels to Lancaster Monday for a 3 p.m. game against the Cedar Valley Suns.
