Highlanders give Gill 500th win
The McLennan Highlanders gave head coach Kevin Gill his 500th career victory in convincing fashion as they defeated the Concordia University JV Tornados 109-79 Tuesday night at The Highlands.
The Highlanders came out on fire, opening the game on a 17-2 run. The Tornados rallied to cut the lead to 10, 19-9, with 12:08 remaining in the first half. McLennan extended the lead to 16 before Concordia rallied again, cutting the lead to eight, 40-32, with 1:47 to play before the break. McLennan ended the half on an 8-0 run to extend the lead back to 16 at intermission.
The Highlanders opened the second half on a 7-0 run and continued to pull away down the stretch as they cruised to the easy win.
Jerami Grace and Fred Jackson led the Highlanders with 15 points each.
