Highlanders advance to Super Regional with win over Midland

The #17 McLennan Highlanders defeated the #12 Midland Chaparrals 3-2 to advance to next week's Super Regional with the opponent and site to be determined. Mason Cook picked up the win on the mound.
Midland took the early lead with a run in the fourth inning. AJ Velarde walked and Colin Fisher doubled. Hudson Grace followed with a single to score Velarde.
All three of McLennan's runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Spencer Butt singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Marcus Smith. Daniel Harden walked, and Deiten Lachance followed with a three-run homer.
The Chaps rounded out the scoring with a run in the eighth. Josh Wulfert reached on an error but was out on a fielder's choice by Velarde. Fisher and Grace both singled, scoring Velarde.
