Highlanders fall at Tyler
The McLennan Highlanders fell to the Tyler Apaches 7-2 this evening in Tyler. Stevie Doty took the loss on the mound.
Ty Waid's solo home run to lead off the third began the scoring for McLennan.
The Highlanders added a run in the top of the fifth. Waid walked and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Walker Freeman. Waid then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Marcus Smith.
Tyler took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Levi Risenhoover was hit by the pitch and stole second. Nico Ruedas was also hit by the pitch, and Gabe Flores walked to load the bases. Zack Zavala singled to score Risenhoover and Ruedas. Preston Newberry followed with a double to score Flores and Zavala. Landry Stamps then singled to score Newberry. Josiah Mackey reached on an error, and Risenhoover doubled to score Stamps.
The Apaches added a run in the seventh. Newberry and Stamps both singled, and Mackey was hit by the pitch. A fielder's choice by Troy Johnson brought Newberry in to score.
