Highlanders & Wranglers split doubleheader
The McLennan Highlanders and Cisco Wranglers split today's conference doubleheader in Cisco.
The Wranglers took game one 2-1 with John Carmichael taking the loss on the mound for the Highlanders.
McLennan's run came in the top of the fourth as Jackson Irons tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ty Waid.
Cisco tied the game with a run in the fifth. Savion Flowers singled but was out second on a fielder's choice by Dae Palomo. Andy Chapa then doubled to score Palomo.
The Wranglers scored in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Rene Vela doubled ad Gage Kooyers singled. Trey Acreman hit into a double play, scoring Vela.
McLennan bounced back to defeat Cisco 7-2 in the nightcap with Logan Harris getting the win on the mound.
The Highlanders scored two in the top of the third. Marcus Smith led off with a solo home run. Cage McCloud doubled and advanced on a sac bunt by Sherman Johnson. Daniel Harden walked, and AJ Goytia singled to score McCloud.
The Wranglers tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Palomo was hit by the pitch and scored on a double by Chapa. Preston Freeman then singled to score Chapa.
McLennan took the led with three runs in the fourth. Waid reached on an error and McClane Helton was hit by the pitch. Smith walked, loading the bases. McCloud also walked, scoring Waid. Johnson hit into a double play, putting Helton out at third. Harden then singled to score Smith, and McCloud scored on an error.
Another Highlander run scored in the sixth. Smith walked and stole second. Harden then singled to score Smith.
The final McLennan run came in the top of the seventh as Waid singled and scored on double by Smith.
