Highlanders win two over Cisco with a walk-off
The McLennan Highlanders picked up two wins over the Cisco Lady Wranglers.
Alex Wallace picked up the 7-0 shut-out win on the mound in game one for the Highlanders.
McLennan scored five runs in the third inning. Daniel Harden singled and AJ Goytia doubled. Harden scored on a wild pitch, and Jackson Irons singled to score Goytia. Cage McCloud walked, and Marcus Smith followed with a three-run homer.
Another Highlander runs scored in the fourth as Harden singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a balk.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Sherman Johnson triple and Harden walked. Deiten Lachance then singled to score Johnson.
After a weather delay in the nightcap, the Highlanders defeated the Wranglers 13-3 in six innings with Mason Cooking picking up the win on the mound.
All three Cisco runs score in the top of the first inning. Andy Chapa reached on an error and Rene Vela doubled. Gage Kooyers followed with a single to score Chapa. Trey Acreman singled and Vela scored on a wild pitch. Both runners advanced on an error, and Kooyers scored on a sacrifice fly by Isaac Herzog.
McLennan scored two in the first. Goytia walked and Lachance singled, both scoring on a double by Ty Waid.
The Highlanders exploded for eight runs in the second. Smith and McClane Helton both singled. Johnson walked, loading the bases. Harden also walked, scoring Smith, and Goytia walked to score Helton. Lachance followed with a grand slam. Waid and Smith both walked, and Helton was hit by the pitch to reload the bases. Johnson then doubled to score Waid and Smith
McLennan sealed the run rule with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, after the weather delay. McCloud walked, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Helton singled to score McCloud. Johnson followed with a walk-off two-run homer.
