Highlanders end season at JUCO World Series
The McLennan Highlanders' season came to an end with a 9-2 loss to the Shelton State Buccaneers on day two of the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. Kade Bin took the loss on the mound for the Highlanders.
The Buccaneers took control with five runs in the top of the first inning. Wesley Helms reached on an error and Nick Wilson singled. Pierce Dutton also singled, loading the bases. Trenton Shirley followed with a single, scoring Helms and Wilson. Mason Steele followed with a three0run homer.
Deiten Lachance's solo home run put the Highlanders on the board in the second.
Shelton State responded with two runs in the third. Kyle Morrison singled and advanced on a balk. Wilson reached on an error and stole second. Steel then singled to score Morrison and Wilson.
Another Bucs run scored in the fifth. Morrison singled and Dutton walked. Hayes Alford then singled to score Morrison.
Back-to-back doubles by Aidan Kuni and Lachance produced the Highlanders final run in the sixth.
Shelton State added one more run in the ninth. Helms singled and advanced around to third on a pair of wild pitches. Dutton then doubled to score Helms.
