Highlanders earn All-Conference honors
Seven members of the Highlander Baseball squad earned 2024 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference awards.
Catcher Deiten Lachance, third baseman Sam Flores and pitcher Clayton Freshcorn were named First-Team All-Conference. Lachance, a freshman from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, had a .365 batting average in conference play with seven doubles, one triple, five home runs and 41 RBI. Flores, a sophomore from Lufkin, Texas, had a.350 conference batting average with six doubles, two triples, six home runs and 34 RBI. Freshcorn, a freshman from Waller, Texas, was 3-2 on the mound with one save in conference play allowing 27 hits with a 2.33 ERA while striking out 46 in 38.2 innings.
Catcher Mac Rose, first baseman Aidan Kuni, and pitchers Alex Wallace and Kade Bing were all Second-Team All-Conference selections. Rose, a freshman from Rockwall, Texas, had a .381 conference batting average with six doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI. Kuni, a sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas, had a .380 batting average in conference play with five doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI. Wallace, a freshman from Rancho Santa Margarita, California, was 4-1 on the mound in conference, allowing 19 hits with a 1.57 ERA while striking out 39 in 28.2 innings. Bing, a freshman from West, Texas, had a perfect 5-0 record in conference, allowing 37 hits with a 3.98 ERA while striking out 45 in 43.0 innings.
