Highlanders No. 2 in DBA rankings

The McLennan Highlanders will begin the 2024 baseball season ranked No. 2 in the JUCO Baseball Division I Top-40 Rankings released by DreamBigAthletics.com.

Central Florida, the defending national champion, is No. 1. Wabash Valley (Illinois) is No. 3, followed by Central Arizona at No. 4 and Weatherford, a conference opponent of McLennan at No. 5. Blinn, a non-conference opponent for the Highlanders, is No. 7.

The Highlanders finished the 2023 reason with an overall record of 40-18 and were 22-10 in conference play. This year's squad features 11 players ranked among the Top 200 junior college players in the country by DBA, including Gavyn Jones coming in at No. 1. Other players listed include: Nick Greaney, No. 10; Devin Bennett, No. 21; Phoenix Meza, No. 24; Lucas Kelly, No. 83; Xander McAfee, No. 102; Deiten Lachance, No. 111; Isaac Godard, No. 116; Aidan Kuni, No. 117; Stefan Stahl, No. 131; and Sam Flores, No. 145.

McLennan opens the season Feb. 2-4 at the Panama City Beach Classic in Panama City, Florida.
