McLennan Highlanders wallop Navarro
The No. 5 McLennan Highlanders walloped the Navarro Bulldogs 11-0 this afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Corsicana. Grant Fontenot picked up the win on the mound.
The Highlanders began the scoring with two runs in the top of the first as Elijah Rodriguez drew a lead-off walk, advanced to second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on an error. Jason Hawkins singled and Britton Moore was hit by the pitch. Hawkins then scored on a fielder's choice by Aidan Kuni.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the third. Hawkins singled and Blake Hansen walked. Moore followed with a single to score Hawkins, and Hansen scored on a sacrifice fly by Kuni.
McLennan added a two more runs in the fifth. Moore led off with a single and Chase Brown doubled. Both runners scored on a double by Kuni.
The Highlanders exploded for five runs in the sixth. Rodriguez walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Hawkins. Hansen walked and Brown reached on an error. Kuni then doubled to score all three runners. Rodric Black followed with a single to score Kuni.
McLennan opens conference play Wednesday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader in Weatherford.
