McLennan Baseball players earn all-conference honors
Six members of the McLennan Baseball squad were named to the 2019 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference team as voted on by the coaches.
Right-hander Grant Miller was named the Pitcher of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection. Miller, a sophomore from Round Rock, had a 5-0 record during conference play with a 2.90 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Redshirt freshman Jordan Yeatts was also named first-team all-conference. Yeatts, an infielder from College Station, had a .366 batting average in 30 conference games with 10 doubles and 25 RBIs.
McLennan's second-team all-conference selections included first baseman Cole Moore, shortstop Jalen Battles, third baseman/designated hitter Garrett Martin and outfielder Brett Squires. Moore, a freshman from Georgetown, appeared in all 30 conference games recording a .385 average with six doubles, five home runs and 33 RBIs along with 16 walks. Battles, a freshman San Antonio native, hit .336 during the 30-game conference season with seven doubles, six home runs and 24 RBIs along with 18 walks. Martin, a freshman from Denver, Colorado, hit. .417 in the 30 conference games with seven doubles, five home runs, 20 RBIs and 22 walks. Squires, a freshman from Grapevine, also played in all 30 conference games recording a .322 average with nine doubles, seven home runs 28 RBIs and 30 walks.
