McLennan baseball, softball players earn conference weekly honors
McLennan Baseball swept the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference awards for the Week of March 3-9.
Sophomore Jase Embry, a right hander from Axtell, was named the Pitcher of the Week. Embry allowed one hit and recorded seven strikeouts in five innings of work in the Highlanders' 14-0 run-rule victory over No. 11 Weatherford.
Freshman Garrett Martin was named the Position Player of the Week. Martin, a third baseman and designated hitter from Denver, Colorado, had a .583 batting average in four games last week. He recorded a double, a triple, and a home run while picking up six RBIs and scoring five runs. He also recorded five walks.
McLennan Softball's Emily Klanika was named the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 3-9. Klanika, a right hander from Pflugerville, was 2-0 for the week, allowing four earned runs on 13 hits and recording 18 strikeouts with only four walks in 14 innings of work.
This marks the second time Embry and Klanika have earned weekly honors this season.
