"We got two nice pitching performances today. It was good to see our starters throw well and go deep into the game," coach Mitch Thompson said. "Both Finnegan and Calvert threw strikes and competed well.
"Last week really taxed our pitching staff when we had to play three doubleheaders in six days. Today Jack and Reece allowed us to rest our bullpen and have them ready to go for our doubleheader on Saturday.
"Offensively, we were aggressive at the plate and on the bases. We had seven stolen bases on the afternoon, and our hitters did a nice job of hitting with runners in scoring position. One of the nice things about our offense is we are not dependent on one guy to carry us. Today we had five different guys that had multiple hits in the second game. McGuire had four hits in the second game and has now hit safely in 18 straight games."
