McLennan, Weatherford split

The McLennan Highlanders and top-ranked Weatherford Coyotes split Saturday's conference doubleheader in Weatherford.

Weatherford took game one 5-4 with Nathan Bertness taking the loss on the mound. Mason George went 3-3 at the plate with a double. Brandon Grudzielanek and Noah McGowan both doubled. Kirby McGuire went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Will Fox and James Rudkin both recorded an RBI.

The Highlanders bounced back to defeat the Coyotes 8-5 in the nightcap with Chris Glover getting the win and Dustin Jourdan picking up the save. McGuire, Rudkin and Grudzielanek all went 3-5 with a double and an RBI. Braxton Hollenshead was 2-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Tucker Johnson hit a double and picked up two RBIs.
