Highlanders fall to Cisco
The McLennan Highlanders dropped both games of Friday's conference doubleheader with the Cisco Wranglers at Bosque River Ballpark.
Cisco took game one 2-1 with Kody Hessemer taking the loss on the mound.
Both of Cisco's runs came in the fifth inning. Aaron Abrego and Zack Allen both singled. Brian Deaver then singled, but the ball was misplayed by McLennan's center fielder, allowing Abrego and Allen to score.
The Highlanders' only run came in the bottom of the seventh as Trevor Podsednik singled, moved to second on a single by Zach Gonzalez and scored on a single by Dalton Rodriguez.
McLennan came up a run short in the nightcap, falling 6-5 with Enrique Oquendo taking the loss.
The Highlanders began the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first as Matt Campbell singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Podsednik.
The Wranglers tied the game with a run in the top of the second as Michael Hungate doubled and scored on a single by Mason Baker.
McLennan took the lead with a run in the bottom of the inning. Mason George walked and Sydney Daley singled. Evan Williams followed with a fielder's choice, putting George out at third. Daley then stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Miles Manning.
Cisco took the lead with three runs in the fifth. Allen singled and Deaver drew a walk. Alexander Montero then doubled to score Allen and Deaver. Montero moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Kiki Menendez.
The Wranglers added one run in the seventh as Menendez tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Clarke.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Daley singled and Williams was safe on a Cisco error. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice by Manning and scored on a single by Campbell. Campbell advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a groundout by Max Hogan and scored on a double by Zac Valenzuela.
