NJCAA Board of Regents votes to move competitions to spring semester

Following a vote by its Board of Regents, the NJCAA has announced a Plan of Action for the 2020-21 academic year. The plan includes moving all fall close-contact and winter sports competition to the spring semester. Spring competition will remain as is with a few minor adjustments of dates. Below is a brief summary of how the plan applies to McLennan's six teams. To view the full plan, visit njcaa.org.
Men's & Women's Basketball
- Allowed 60 consecutive calendar days in the fall for practice and scrimmages from Sept. 15-Dec. 15, 2020.
- Allowed five scrimmage dates in total for the year, with maximum of two in the spring. Each scrimmage will be limited to no more than two outside opponents.
- Spring practice permitted to begin Jan. 11, 2021.
- Competition permitted to begin Jan. 22, 2021, with maximum of 22 games.
- All regular season, region, and district championship competition must be completed by April 10, 2021.
- NJCAA Men's & Women's Basketball Championships are scheduled to begin April 19, 2021.
Baseball
- Allowed 60 consecutive calendar days in the fall for practice and scrimmages from Sept. 5-Nov. 15, 2020.
- Allowed a maximum of 15 fall scrimmages against outside competition.
- Spring practice permitted to begin Jan. 10, 2021.
- Competition permitted to begin Jan. 22, 2021 with maximum of 56 games.
- All regular season, region, and district competition must be completed by May 23, 2021.
- NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series scheduled for May 29-June 4/5, 2021.
Men's And Women's Golf
- Allowed 60 consecutive calendar days for practice and scrimmages from Sept. 5- Nov. 15, 2020.
- Maximum of 30 dates against outside competition combined between fall and spring.
- Spring practice permitted to begin starting Jan. 10, 2021.
- Competition permitted to begin starting Jan. 22, 2021.
- NJCAA Women's Golf Championship scheduled for May 10-13, 2021.
- NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship scheduled for May 11-14, 2021.
Softball
- Allowed 60 consecutive calendar days in the fall for practice and scrimmages from Sept. 5-Nov. 5, 2020.
- Maximum of seven fall scrimmage dates against outside competition.
- Spring practice permitted to begin Jan. 10, 2021.
- Competition permitted to begin Jan. 22, 2021, with maximum of 30 dates against outside competition.
- All regular season, region, and district competition must be completed by May 19, 2021.
- NJCAA Division I Softball Championship scheduled for May 25-29, 2021.
