27 McLennan athletes and five teams recognized by NJCAA for academic success
Twenty-seven McLennan Community College student-athletes were honored with NJCAA All-Academic Awards for their success in the classroom in 2019-20. A total of 9,555 student-athletes from across the nation were named among the three levels of honorees: First Team (4.0 GPA), Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA) and Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA).
McLennan placed four athletes on the First Team, 12 on the Second Team and 11 on the Third Team. The baseball squad led the McLennan teams with 10 honorees while the men's golf team and softball squad had six each. Women's golf and women's basketball both had two award winners, and men's basketball had one.
McLennan's honorees included:
First Team: Caden Harris (baseball), Ulrik Joergensen (men's golf), Madison Saenz (women's golf) and Brett Squires (baseball)
Second Team: James Crooks (baseball), Ryan Esparza (men's golf), Jaidyn Fontenette (women's basketball), Hayes Hamilton (men's golf), Holden Hamilton (men's golf), Cora Hickey (softball), Mason Mikeska (men's golf), Ryan Neitsch (baseball), Rebekah Parks (softball), Kevin Skweres (baseball), Madeline Stephens (softball) and Jessica Truax (softball)
Third Team: Caleb Balgaard (baseball), Brant Bennett (baseball), Daniel Cole (baseball), Gracy Crafts (softball), Wilson Hicks (baseball), Emily Isaacson (women's golf), Payton Otto (men's golf), Nicholas Pierce (baseball), Tyrese Taylor (men's basketball), Kadyn Trochim (softball) and Kenidi White (women's basketball)
In addition, five McLennan teams were among the 1,026 teams from across the nation recognized with 2019-20 Academic Team of the Year honors for their team GPA: men's golf (3.53), women's golf (3.52), baseball (3.30), softball (3.20) and women's basketball (3.03).
