McLennan student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent
Six McLennan Community College student-athletes, including three basketball players, two golfers, and a softball player, signed National Letters of Intent this afternoon in a Signing Ceremony at The Highlands.
Desirae Devine and KeeKee Nowlin from the women's basketball squad will remain teammates at Texas A&M University-Commerce in the fall. Devine, a redshirt sophomore post from Dallas, appeared in all 29 games for the Highlassies this season, averaging five points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Nowlin, a sophomore guard from Bryan, also appeared in all 29 games and led the team with a 15.8 points per game average along with 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
Highlander sophomore post Dayante McClellan of Del Valle singed with Texas A&M University-Kingsville. McClellan played in all 31 games this season, averaging 6.2 points and a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game.
Sophomore golfers Elin Eriksson and Briana Venegas signed with the Oklahoma Christian University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University, respectively. Eriksson, a native of Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, has played in seven tournaments for the Highlassies this year with two top-10 finishes. Venegas, from Odessa, has two top-20 finishes this year in eight tournaments.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Emily Klanika signed with St. Edward's University. Klanika, a Pflugerville native, made 29 appearances in the circle, notching an 18-8 record with a 2.63 ERA and 165 strikeouts.
