Highlassies top SWCC
The McLennan Highlassies bounced back into the win column with a 76-61 victory over the Southwestern Christian Lady Rams tonight at The Highlands.
Southwestern Christian opened the game on a 4-0 run and built a five-point lead at 7-2 with 7:35 to play in the first quarter. McLennan took control from that point forward, using a 9-0 run to take the 11-7 lead with 6:02 to go. The Highlassies continued to pull away in the first, using another run this one of the 10-2 variety to extend the lead to 12, 21-9. The Lady Rams charged back and ut the lead to six after one quarter of play, 23-15. McLennan kept Southwestern Christian at arm's length in the second quarter, holding a 37-30 advantage at the break.
The Highlassies pulled away to start the third, extending the lead to 15. But once again the Lady Rams made a run late in the quarter to cut the McLennan lead to nine going to fourth quarter, 54-55. Southwestern Christian continued to hang with the Highlassies in the final period but ran out of steam late, allowing McLennan to pull away and lead by as many as 16.
Annya Moss led the Highlassies with 17 points. Seynabou Thiam and Ny'Asia Goldman chipped in 15 points each. Elizabeth Critton added 11.
