Highlassies eclipse Lady Suns
In women's action of Monday afternoon's hoops doubleheader, the Highlassies defeated the Lady Suns 83-48.
Jade Bradley drained a 3-pointer to start the scoring for McLennan but Cedar Valley took control early. The Lady Suns responded with a 9-0 run over a four minute period to build a six-point lead at 9-3 with 4:40 to go in the first quarter. Cedar Valley would lead by four, 11-7 with 3:19 on the clock. The Highlassie bench ignited a rally. Annya Moss and Ny'Asia Goldman combined for a 10-0 run to put McLennan up by six, 17-11. The Highlassies would led by seven after a quarter of play, 20-13.
The Highlassies opened the second quarter on a 13-1 run as they held the Lady Suns to just one free throw for over five minutes of play. McLennan would lead by 22 at halftime, 43-21.
With the game well out of reach, the Highlassies continued to roll in the second half. Cedar Valley made a 10-2 run late in the third quarter but it wasn't enough to overcome the McLennan lead.
Raija Todd led the Highlassies with 17 points and Annya Moss had 15.
