Highlassies stomp Cedar Valley
Cedar Valley was no match for McLennan in the women's game as the Highlassies stomped the Lady Suns 91-43.
Jaidyn Johnson gave Cedar Valley the early lead with a bucket less than a minute into the contest. That would prove to be the Lady Suns' only lead of the game. Mele Kaloni Kailahi hit two 3-pointers, one from each corner of the court, for the Highlassies to put McLennan up 6-2 with eight minutes to go in the first quarter. The Lady Suns cut the lead to one 7-6 midway through the quarter but the Highlassies pulled away. McLennan ended the quarter on a 14-3 run to take the 21-9 lead. The Highlassies continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring Cedar Valley 21-8 in the period to hold the 42-17 lead at halftime.
Cedar Valley picked up the scoring pace a little in the second half but it wasn't enough to overcome the strong McLennan offense. The Highlassies outscored the Lady Suns 30-13 in the third quarter and 19-13 in the fourth as they cruised to victory.
McLennan spread the wealth in scoring with four Highlassies in double digits. Kailahi led the way with 17 and Yumon Simien added 15. Jade Bradley and Kenidi White scored 12 and 10, respectively.
