Highlanders hammer Hill
The #1 McLennan Highlanders dominated Hill this afternoon shutting out the Rebels in both games of the conference doubleheader.
Taryn Batterton got the win in the circle of game one with Highlanders getting the 15-0 run-rule victory in five innings.
McLennan scored three in the first inning. Taylor Meier drew a lead-off walk, and Madison Garcia singled. Both runners advanced on a ground out by Trinity Allen and scored on a single by Kyla Heine. Heine then stole second and scored on a single by Chesnee Faile.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the second. Ellie Loveless walked and Meier singled. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Loveless scored on a wild pitch. Allen then doubled to score Meier,
The Highlanders tacked on eight runs in the third. Mickayla Tosch and Loveless hit back-to-back solo home runs. Meier singled, stole second and scored on a double by Garcia. Allen followed with a two-run homer. Heine singled and Katia Reyes followed with a two-run homer, and Faile hit a solo home run.
The final two runs came in the fourth. Loveless singled and Sarah Johnson walked. Allen doubled again, scoring Loveless. Johnson was out at home on a fielder's choice by Brinly Maples. Reyes then singled to score Allen.
McLennan's dominance continued into the second game of the day with Makenzi Jenkins picking up the 12-0 run in the circle.
One run scored in the first as Meier singled, stole second and third, and scored on a ground out by Garcia.
Three Highlander runs scored in the second. Tosch singled, stole second and scored on a double by Aynsli Lawson. Loveless singled and stole second. Lawson and Loveless both scored on a single by Meier.
Seven McLennan runs scored in the third. Allen singled, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Reyes reached on an error and stole second. Faile also reached on an error, scoring Allen. Madison Hornback walked, loading the bases. Reyes scored on a sacrifice fly by Tosch, and Loveless doubled to score Faile and Hornback. Meier doubled, and Garcia tripled to score Loveless and Meier. Allen then singled to score Garcia.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with a run in the fifth. Lilly Rocha doubled and was replaced by pinch runner Lawson. Lawson advanced to third on a ground out by Loveless and scored on a sacrifice fly by Meier.
