#1 Highlanders rout Ranger
The top-ranked McLennan Highlanders rolled over the Ranger Rangers today with a pair of shutouts on Sophomore Day at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan took game one 18-0 with Katia Reyes in the circle.
The Highlanders scored two in the first. Trinity Allen and Kyla Heine both singled. Allen stole home on the double steal, and Reyes singled. Heine then scored on an error.
Another McLennan runs scored in the second as Mickayla Tosch walked , advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Ally Thompson and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ellie Loveless.
The Highlanders put 12 on the board in the third. Madison Garcia walked, stole second and scored on a triple by Allen. Heine singled, scoring Allen, then stole second, advanced on an error and scored on a double by Reyes. Faile tripled to score Reyes, and Tosch singled to score Faile. Tosch stole second and scored on a single by Thompson. Loveless doubled, and Meier singled to score Thompson. Garcia followed with a two-run homer. Heine singled and scored on a Reyes home run.
The last three runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Loveless and Sarah Johnson singled, both advancing on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Garcia. Cady Bowyer then singled to score Garcia.
Game two was a 13-0 shut-out win for Brinly Maples in the circle.
The Highlanders scored two in the first. Garcia singled, advanced on a ground out by Allen and scored on a single by Heine. Reyes then tripled to score Heine.
Six McLennan runs scored in the second. Thompson and Meier singled, and Garcia walked to load the bases. Allen followed with a grand slam. Heine singled and scored on Reyes' home run.
Five runs scored in the third. Tosch singled and was replaced by Maddie Moore as the pinch runner. Moore stole second and scored on a single by Thompson. Thompson advanced around to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lawson. Meier doubled and was replaced by pinch runner Johnson. Johnson scored on a single by Garcia, and Allen tripled to score Garcia. Allen then scored on a double by Lilly Rocha.
