#1 Highlanders romp over Ranger
The #1 McLennan Highlanders swept the Ranger Rangers today in dominating fashion.
McLennan took game one 25-0 in five innings with Taryn Batterton picking up the win in the circle.
The Highlanders scored two in the first as Madison Garcia singled and scored on Trinity Allen's home run.
McLennan broke the game open with 10 runs in the second inning. Mickayla Tosch hit a solo home run. Ally Thompson singled, and Ellie Lovells followed with a two-run homer. Taylor Meier and Garcia both singled and scored on a double by Allen. Kyla Heine doubled to score Allen, and Katia Reyes followed with a two-run homer. Chesnee Faile doubled, advanced to third on an error and scored on a ground out by Tosch. Thompson then tripled and scored on a single by Loveless.
Six more Highlander runs crossed the plate in the third. Allen and Heine both singled but Heine was out at second on a fielder' choice by Reyes. Faile then tripled to score Allen and Reyes, and Tosch singled to score Faile. Maddie Moore came in as pinch runner for Tosch. Thompson singled and was replaced by pinch runner Aynsli Lawson. Loveless then doubled to score Moore, and Meier singled to score Lawson and Loveless.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with seven runs in the fifth. Lawson singled and Cady Bowyer walked, both scoring on a double by Sarah Johnson. Garcia followed with a triple, scoring Johnson. A Makenzi Jenkins ground out scored Garcia. Heine doubled, and Lilly Rocha followed with a two-run homer. Moore singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Lawson then singled to score Moore.
The Highlanders continued to dominate in game two, winning 15-2 in five innings with Jenkins in the circle.
McLennan scored two in the first. Meier singled and stole her way around to third. Allen then singled to score Meier. Allen stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a ground out by Reyes.
Ranger's first run came in the bottom of the first inning. Malarie Mican singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Arianna Meza then doubled to score Mican.
The Highlanders added a run with Loveless' home run to lead off the second.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the third. Garcia led off with a triple and scored on the throw. Reyes followed with a solo home run.
The Rangers' final run came in the bottom of the third. Alayna Parram reached on an error, and Mican was safe on a dropped third strike. Parram then scored on a double steal.
The Highlanders added another run in the fourth as Lawson doubled, advanced on a fly out by Meier and scored on a sacrifice fly by Garcia.
McLennan rounded out the scoring for the day with nine runs in the fifth. Faile singled and Loveless walk, both stealing a base. Faile scored on a sacrifice fly by Tosch, and Lawson doubled to score Loveless. Meier then doubled to score Lawson., and Garcia doubled to score Meier. Allen followed with another two-run homer. Heine walked an Faile singled. Loveless followed with a three-run homer.
