McLennan Softball rolls to 9-0 shutout over Temple
McLennan Softball rolled to a 9-0 shut-out victory over the Temple Leopards to secure its spot in Sunday's Region V North Tournament Championship. Hailey Hudson got the win in the circle, allowing just two Temple hits in the five-inning game.
Two McLennan runs scored in the top of the first. Ka'Lyn Watson led off with single and stole second. Erin Plunkett reached on an error, bringing Watson in to score. Riley Rutherford then tripled to score Plunkett.
Another McLennan run scored in the third as Watson bunted for a single, advanced to second on an error and scored on a single by Jenny Robison.
McLennan added a run in the fourth. Jalie Neff and Sidney Campion singled, and Plunkett walked to load the bases. Robison then singled to score Neff.
Five runs in the fifth secured the run rule. Maddie Saven doubled and Sydney Kirby walked. Rachel Warren replaced Kirby as the runner at first. Sidney Campion reached on an error, scoring Saven. Watson was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Plunkett then doubled to score Warren, Campion and Watson, and Robison doubled to score Plunkett.
McLennan advances to Sunday's championship game at 12:30 p.m. with opponent to be determined.
