McLennan Softball drops doubleheader at Bossier Parish
McLennan Softball dropped both games of today's doubleheader with the Bossier Parish Cavaliers in Louisiana.
Bossier Parish took game one 12-9 with Emily Klanika taking the loss for McLennan in the circle.
The Cavaliers scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Abi Cole drew a lead-off walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ruby Butler and scored on a single by Rebecca Shepherd. Hailey Pence was hit by the pitch and Uchenna Jong Loy singled, bringing Shepherd in to score. Rachel Yocum and Ryann Dibasilio were both hit by the pitch, bringing Pence in to score. Emily Hardy walked to score Jong Loy. Cole then singled to score Yocum and Dibasilio. Butler followed with a double to score Hardy and Cole.
Bossier Parish added another run on Hardy's home run in the third.
McLennan got on the board with five runs in the top of the fourth. Olivia Lantigua singled but was out on a fielder's choice by Rebeca Fajardo. Kaelin Morkisch singled and Genisa Marrero-Carter was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Arianna Perales followed with a fielder's choice, scoring Fajardo. Kaitlin Richards followed a grand slam.
The Highlassies added two runs in the fifth. Lantigua led off with a double and Morkisch singled. Lantigua then scored on a passed ball, and Morkisch scored on a ground out by Marrero-Carter.
The Cavaliers added another two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Dibasilio walked and scored on another Hardy home run.
McLennan's final two runs of the contest came in the top of the sixth as Lindy Alexander singled and scored on a home run by Emeri Eubanks.
Bossier Parish rounded out the scoring with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Shepherd and Pence both singled and advanced on a fielder's choice by Ally Klein. Shepherd then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jong Loy.
Game two was more of a pitchers' duel with the Cavaliers getting the 3-2 win. Destiny Guerra took the loss for McLennan.
The Highlassies scored a run in the first as Richards singled and scored on a double by Wideman.
Bossier Parish tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third as Cole singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Butler and scored on a single by Shepherd.
The Cavaliers took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Merina Mills was hit by the pitch and replaced by pinch runner Kaylea Burgess. Hardy walked and Cole singled, bringing Burgess in to score. Butler was then safe on an error, allowing Hardy to score.
The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the sixth as Perales doubled and scored on a double by Lantigua.
McLennan's road trip continues tomorrow with a noon doubleheader at Kilgore.
