The McLennan Highlassies came up short in both games of Wednesday's conference doubleheader in Ranger.
Ranger took game one 5-4 with Lizzie Donaldson taking the loss in the circle.
McLennan jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the top of the first. Dariann Resendez and Victoria Gonzales led off with back-to-back singles. Theresa Gonzales followed with a single to score Resendez. Serena Saldivar then singled to score Victoria Gonzales.
The Lady Rangers responded with three runs in the bottom of the first. With two outs on the board, Shelby Neatherlin singled. Lindsey Honeycutt and Mackenzie Stark followed with back-to-back home runs.
The Highlassies tied the game with Victoria Gonzales' solo home run in the third.
Ranger regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third as Neatherlin singled and scored on another Honeycutt home run.
A solo home run by McLennan's Resendez in the top of the seventh rounded out the scoring.
The Lady Rangers defeated the Highlassies 3-2 in game two with Vannessa Castro taking the loss.
Once again, the Highlassies jumped out to an early lead scoring one run in the top of the first. Resendez reached on an error and Victoria Gonzales drew a walk. Resendez then moved to third on a fly out by Saldivar and scored on another error that put Haley Webre on first.
Ranger took the lead with two runs in the fourth as Madi Stark doubled and scored on a home run by Neatherlin.
The Lady Rangers added a run in the fifth as Abi Haston singled, stole second, moved to third on a ground out by Macey Marino and scored on a passed ball.
The Highlassies' final run came in the top of the fifth as Resendez tripled and scored on a fly out by Victoria Gonzales.
McLennan travels to Vernon Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
