Highlanders finish in 14th place at national tournament
The McLennan Highlanders shot 305-290-293-296 – 1,184 to finish in 14th place at the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championship in Viera, Florida.
Central Alabama finished in first place with 282-281-273-280 – 1,116 followed by Indian Hills in second with 281-270-284-294 – 1,129 and Midland in third with 281-281-280-288 – 1,130
Sophomores Mathias Lorentzen shot 76-75-70-69 – 290 to lead the Highlanders and finished tied for 30th.
Other McLennan scores: freshman Caden Honea, tied for 56th, 79-73-72-74 – 298; sophomore Brayden Marnell, tied for 56th, 72-74-75 77– 298; freshman Mason Mikeska, tied for 63rd, 79-68-76-76 – 299; and sophomore Trent Leffingwell, tied for 121st, 78-81-0-0 – 159. Leffingwell was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an eye injury. The four scores for the remaining players were combined to determine the team score.
