McLennan Highlanders finish in second place at Thunderbird Invitational
The McLennan Highlanders shot 288-285-286 – 859 to finish in second place at the NMJC Thunderbird Invitational hosted by New Mexico Junior College at the par-72, 7,103-yard Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico. McLennan finished nine strokes behind Midland, the team champion with 283-282-285 – 850. New Mexico finished in third with 284-283-293 – 860.
Sophomore Matt Lorentzen shot 70-67-68 – 205 to lead the Highlanders and claim the individual championship.
Other McLennan scores: freshman Mason Mikeska, tied for 10th, 72-74-70 – 216; freshman Will Fore, tied for 15th, 72-73-72 – 217; sophomore Brayden Marnell, tied for 20th, 74-72-76 – 222; sophomore Trent Leffingwell, tied for 37th, 80-73-76 – 229; and freshman medalist Austin May, tied for 45th, 79-80-74 – 233.
