Highlanders finish in third place at Andrews
The McLennan Highlanders opened the fall 2017 season this weekend with a third-place finish at the Andrews Collegiate/Amateur Invitational at par-72, 6,506-yard Andrews County Club in Andrews, Texas. The Highlanders shot 286-279 – 565 during the two-day event to finish eight strokes behind first-place Midland, 276-281 – 557.
Western Texas finished in second with 280-284 – 564. Odessa and McMurry rounded out the team leaderboard, finishing in fifth and sixth place respectively with 292-286 – 578 and 288-308 – 596.
Freshman Mathias Lorentzen shot 68-70 – 138 to lead the MCC squad and finish in fourth place. Other McLennan scores: sophomore Alex Isakson, eighth, 70-70 – 140; sophomore Judd Tilson, tied for ninth, 74-68 – 142; sophomore Micah Goulas, tied for 12th, 74-71 – 145; sophomore July Latimer, 32nd, 74-83 – 157; and sophomore Brendan Johnson, tied for 33rd, 82-76 – 158.
