Highlanders finish tied for third at Southwest Championships
The McLennan Highlanders shot 300-316-289 – 905 to finish tied for third at the NJCAA Southwest Championships at the par-712, 6,914-yard Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas. McLennan began the day in seventh place and shot the lowest score in the final round to move up in the standings.
Western Texas finished in first place with 300-300-300 – 900 followed by Tyler in second with 304-298-302 – 904. Midland finished with 297-303-305 – 905 to tie for third with McLennan.
Alex Isakson shot 72-76-76 – 224 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for 10th.
Other McLennan scores: Micah Goulas, tied for 14th, 78-79-70 – 227; Judd Tilson, tied for 16th, 73-83-73 – 229; medalist Kyle Waldrip, tied for 16th, 76-81-72 – 229; Kade Miller, tied for 20th, 84-78-70 – 232; and Ryan Brown, 38th, 77-86-76 – 239.

Scores from the Southwest Championship will be combined with those from the District 2 Championship April 24-25 to determine the qualifiers for the national tournament. Current national tournament qualifier standings: Western Texas, first; McLennan, tied for second; and Midland, tied for second.
