Four McLennan athletes sign Letters of Intent
Four McLennan Community College athletes signed National Letters of Intent, solidifying their plans to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year colleges next fall.
Women's golfer Gianti Mahardhika signed with Sam Houston State University. Mahardhika, of Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia, helped lead the Highlassies to a fourth place finish at the NJCAA National Championships, Region V Championship and an NJCAA All-Academic Team award last season. She claimed the individual Region V Championship and finished in 11th place at the NJCAA National Championships as a freshman, earning all-region and second-team All-American honors.
Men's golfers Blake Stock and Ryan Johnson signed with Stephen F. Austin State University and Augusta State University, respectively. As freshmen, they helped lead the Highlanders to a tie for second place at the NJCAA National Tournament, the NJCAA District 2 Championship, a second place finish at the Region V Tournament and an NJCAA All-Academic Team award. Stock, a Midway graduate, also won the individual District 2 Championship. Johnson, a Trophy Club native, finished tied for 13th at the NJCAA National Tournament, earning honorable mention All-American honors.
Highlanders basketball center Zach Charles signed with Eastern Kentucky University. Charles, a Mesquite native, averaged 8.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season, and helped lead the Highlanders to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
