Highlanders top Weatherford
It was a close affair between the Highlander and Coyotes with McLennan pulling off the 74-57 victory.
Both teams started slow offensively . The game was tied at seven with 15:57 to play in the first half. McLennan took the lead on a Dillon Gooding jumper less than a minute later, and Diego Gonzalez got fast-break layup to put McLennan up by four, 11-7. The Highlanders stayed barely ahead of the Coyotes throughout the half. McLennan led by three, 28-25 with just under five minutes remaining in the half and pushed the lead to eight before Weatherford trimmed it back to five at halftime, 35-30.
McLennan began to create some distance in the second half, taking its first double-digit least at 45-35 on a Gonzalez 3-pointer with 15:07 to play. The Highlanders extended the lead to 13, 58-45, with 9:06 on the clock. Weatherford rallied and cut the lead to five with 6:10 to go, 58-53. McLennan continued to lead by five with 5:18 to go, 60-55. The Highlanders ended the game on a 14-2 run to seal the win.
Diego Gonzalez led the Highlanders with 17 points and Dillon Gooding added 16. Chris Pryor and Forte Prater scored 23 and 10, respectively.
