Highlanders burn Suns
The McLennan Highlanders burned the Cedar Valley Suns 88-53.
Both teams started slow but it appeared that McLennan dominate early on as the Highlanders opened on an 8-0 run comprised on a bucket by Nehemiah Nuckolls and 3-pointers from Forte Prater and Chris Pryor. Cedar Valley finally got on the board with a four-point play by Isaiah Sobers as he drained a 3-pointer from the corner and the following foul shot. McLennan extended the lead to 14, 25-11, midway through the half but the Suns began to fight. Cedar Valley rallied to tie game at 25 with 5:22 to pay in the first half. The Highlanders responded with a 16-2 run to close out the half and take the 41-27 advantage at intermission.
McLennan put the game away early in the second half. The Highlander held the Suns to just six points in the first 10 minutes of the half as they poured in 26 of their own to put the game out of reach.
Diego Gonzalez led the Highlanders with 19 points and Forte Prater added 14.
The Highlassies return to action Nov. 30, hosting Richland at 6 p.m. at The Highlands. The Highlanders will host Dec. 1, hosting North Lake at 7 p.m.
