Highlanders remain perfect with thumping of Thunderducks
It was all McLennan from the opening tip as the Highlanders thumped the Richland Thunderducks 106-47 in the Joe White Classic on the campus of Hill College.
McLennan opened the game on a 10-0 run highlighted by a pair of dunks from Justin Wilson and Nehemiah Nuckolls. A David Favorite drive in the lane put Richland on the board with 17:10 to go in the first half. The Thunderducks cut the lead to six, 14-8, with 12:33 play before the break. McLennan busted the game open with runs of 13-0 and 10-2, and extended the lead to 32 at the break, 50-18.
Richland showed a little spunk early in the second half and trimmed the lead to 24. That would be as close as the Thunderducks would get. McLennan continued to push, using a 26-2 run to put the game securely out of reach.
Rommell Williams led the McLennan onslaught with 19 points. Chris Pryor and CJ Hall added 17 and 12 points, respectively. Forte Prater and Cortland Blake scored 11 points each.
The Highlanders moved to 7-0 on the season and will continue play in the Joe White Classic tomorrow, facing Strength 'N Motion at 2 p.m.
