McLennan Highlanders roll to 5-0 record
An up-tempo, run-and-gun style game proved to be too much for Good Vision Academy as the McLennan Highlanders rolled to a victory over the visiting squad from Houston.
Maurice Harvey drained a 3-pointer from the elbow less than 20 seconds into the contest to begin the Highlanders' onslaught. Good Vision briefly led 6-5 with 17:09 on the clock in the first half but it was all McLennan from that point. The Highlanders rattled of a 10-0 run highlighted by a pair of steal and buckets from Diego Gonzalez to begin pulling away, 15-6. McLennan took its first double-digit lead at 23-12 with 9:28 to play before the break and increased the lead to 35 at halftime, 50-15.
Nehemiah Nuckolls and Chris Pryor led the Highlanders with 14 points each. Rayquan Brown and Dillon Gooding scored 12 points each. Maurice Harvey and Ja'Kyrie Robinson added 10 each.
McLennan really began to pour it on in the second half and Good Vision couldn't stop the Highlanders' deluge.
McLennan will host a basketball doubleheader Friday evening at The Highlands. The Highlassies fill face LSU-Eunice at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Highlanders against Tribulation Prep at 7:30 p.m.
