Highlanders cruise over Concordia JV
The McLennan Highlanders moved to 12-0 on the season with a 95-78 win over the Concordia University Tornados JV Sunday afternoon in Austin.
Gabe Spivey's 3-pointer with less than a minute off the clock gave the Tornadoes their only lead of the game. McLennan's Shannon Bogues tied the game with a 3-pointer less than a minute later and the Highlanders took the lead on an Isaiah Gurley layup with 17:23 to go, 5-3. The Highlanders led 15-14 with 12:38 to go in the first half. McLennan used a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to break the game open. The Highlanders led by as many as 18 in the half and held the 54-39 advantage at the break.
The Highlanders cruised through the second half, leading by as many as 23. Bogues led five Highlanders in double figures with 22 points and Gurley chipped in 19. Jashawn Talton and Hayden Hunter scored 12 and 11, respectively. Daniel Pinho Severo added 10.
