Highlanders top Angelina
The McLennan Highlanders extended their winning streak to three on the young season with a 96-76 win over the Angelina Roadrunners Tuesday night at The Highlands.
McLennan came out with a swarming defense and on fire offensively. The Highlanders opened the game on an 8-0 run and built a 15-point lead, 25-10, with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Angelina didn't give up. The Roadrunners rallied and took a two-point lead into the break, 36-34.
Angelina led 41-38 with 18:43 remaining in the game. McLennan broke the game open with a 23-2 run over the next six minutes. The Highlanders led by as many as 28 down the stretch.
Aundre Jackson recorded a double-double for McLennan with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Shannon Bogues led all Highlander scorers with 26 points. Zach Charles and Jerami Grace added 12 and 10, respectively.
McLennan returns to action on Friday at the Joe White Classic in Hillsboro. The Highlanders will face the Navarro Bulldogs at 5 p.m.
