Highlanders stomp Bossier Parish
The McLennan Highlanders defeated the Bossier Parish Cavaliers 101-58 on Wednesday night in the final tune up before the start of conference play.
The teams kept the score close through the first five minutes of play. McLennan led 13-0 with 14:53 remaining in the first half. The Highlanders extended the lead to six, 23-16, then used an 11-0 to break the game open. McLennan led by as many as 21 in the half and held the 48-30 advantage at the break.
The second half was much the same as McLennan continued to pull away.
Alex Mills led the Highlanders with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Jalen Jones and Jeff Beverly scored 15 points each. Elijah Mayes added 13.
McLennan begins conference play on Saturday, traveling to Temple. The women's game begins at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.
