McLennan Dance Company racks up camp awards
The McLennan Dance Company earned numerous awards at Universal Dance Association (UDA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA) camps this summer.
Five members of the squad attended UDA camp, claiming first place in the Fight Song category and receiving a Superior Trophy for blue ribbons in all camp dances. The group was also named Most Collegiate by the UDA staff members.
Success continued at NDA camp as the team placed second in Team Dance as well as the Game Day competition. The second highest overall score for Game Day led to a Gold Bid (full-paid) to nationals for the first time in five years. The squad also won a Spirit Award for its energy and enthusiasm shown during camp. Sophomore captains Daisha Mitchell and Lyndsee Lemacks along with freshman Marissa Mendoza were named All-Americans. Mitchell, a two-time All-American honoree, also received the Top Gun Turns award. NDA Collegiate Nationals will be held in April 2016 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
