The McLennan Highlanders swept today's conference doubleheader with the Hill Rebels in Hillsboro.
Clayton Freshcorn picked up the 3-0 complete-game shutout for the Highlanders in the opener.
Aidan Kuni's solo home run in the first began the scoring.
The Highlanders added a run in the fifth. Brodey Williams drew a lead-off walk and advanced on as sacrifice bunt by Landon Underhill. Brecken Menuet then grounded out to score Williams.
The final McLennan run scored in the sixth. Sam Flores and Walker Freeman both singled. Flores then scored.
The Highlanders defeated the Rebels 11-5 in the nightcap with John Carmichael getting the win in relief of starter Kade Bing.
McLennan scored a run in the first as Kuni doubled and scored on a double by Flores.
Three Highlander runs score in the third. Kuni, Deiten Lachance ad Flores all walked. Walker Freeman walked to score Kuni, and Lachance scored on an overthrow.
The Rebels first run came in the bottom of the third. Bryce Tabor doubled and Garrett Smith singled. Tabor then scored on a passed ball.
McLennan scored a run in the fourth. Landon Underhill and Brecken Menuet both singled. Underhill then scored on a sacrifice fly by Daniel Harden.
Hill added two runs in the fifth. Dylan Martinez singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Tabor walked, and Smith doubled to score Martinez and Tabor.
The Rebels took the lead with two runs in the sixth as Derick Andiarena was hit by the pitch and scored on Nolan Kutney's home run.
The Highlanders tied the game with a run in the seventh. Kuni and Flores were both hit by the pitch and Freeman singled, loading the bases. Kuni then scored on a sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Owen Smith.
McLennan sealed the win with six runs in the eighth inning. Underhill walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Menuet and scored on a double by Harden. Kuni was hit by the pitch and Lachance singled, loading the bases. Flores singled to score Harden, and Smith followed with a grand slam.
