Highlanders & Rangers split
The McLennan Highlanders and Ranger Rangers split today's conference doubleheader in Ranger.
The Rangers needed an extra inning to defeat the Highlanders 8-7 in the opener.
Ranger began the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first as Jaxon Haynes singled and came all the way around to score on an error.
Another Ranger run scored in the second as Terry Burrel singled and scored on a double by Jackson Dillingham.
McLennan got on the board with a run in the third as Brecken Menuet doubled and scored on a single by Daniel Harden.
The Rangers added two runs in the third. Michael Torres-Idrogo and Joshua Comeaux both walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Robert Oropeza then grounded out to score Torres-Idrogo. Tui Amosa followed with a triple to score Comeaux.
Two more Ranger runs scored in the fourth. Andrew Perez walked an J.T. Thompson reached on an error. Torres-Idrogo walked to load the bases. Emery Fields came in as a pinch runner for Perez. Haynes then singled to score Fields and Thompson.
The Highlanders scored one in the sixth. Harden and Aidan Kuni both walked, and Deiten Lachance singled to load the bases. Harden then scored on a ground out by Sam Flores.
Ranger scored another run in the bottom of the sixth. Dillingham reached on an error and advanced on a ground out by Thompson. Torres-Idrogo then singled to score Dillingham.
McLennan tied the game with five runs in the seventh. Landon Underhill hit a solo home run. Harden singled, and Mac Rose and Aidan Kuni were both hit by the pitch to load the bases. Lachance followed with a grand slam.
Ranger sealed the win with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Dillingham singled, Thompson walked, and Koen Piepkorn singled to load the bases. Dillingham then scored on a sacrifice fly by Haynes.
McLennan bounced back to defeat Ranger 11-1 in the nightcap with Alex Wallace getting the run-rule win on the mound.
The Highlanders scored five in the first inning. Harden walked and advanced around to third on an error and a balk. Kuni also walked, and Lachance singled to score Harden. Flores then doubled to score Kuni, and Walker Freeman followed with a three-run homer.
Another McLennan run scored in the second. Harden single and Rose was hit by the pitch. Lachance then doubled to score Harden.
Ranger's only run came in the bottom of the second. Adin Morehouse and Terry Burrel were both hit by the pitch. Dillingham followed with a single to score Morehouse.
McLennan sealed the run rule with five runs in the fifth. Flores tripled, Freeman walked and Gavyn Jones was hit by the pitch. Underhill singled to score Flores, and Rose singled to score Freeman and Jones. Kuni then singled to score Rose.
