Highlanders come from behind to sweep Grayson
The McLennan Highlanders swept today's conference doubleheader with the Grayson Vikings on the road.
McLennan came from to take game one over the Vikings 7-5 with Nick Greaney getting the win and Stefan Stahl picking up the save.
The Highlanders scored one run in the top of the first. Daniel Harden drew a lead-off walk, Mac Rose singled, and Aidan Kuni was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Harden then scored on a sacrifice fly by Deiten Lachance.
Grayson took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Sloan Barrett walked and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Brodrick. Trey Oblas reached on an error, scoring Barrett. John Maldonado and Brandon Seidmeyer both reached on errors, scoring Oblas.
McLennan tied the game with a run in the top of the third. Harden walked and Rose singled. A fielder's choice by Kuni put Harden out at third. Lachance singled, and Rose scored on a fielder's choice by Brodey Williams.
The Vikings took the lead again with two runs in the bottom of the third. Brodrick singled, and Mason Ruiz walked, Oblas singled to load the bases. John Maldonado grounded into a double play, scoring Brodrick, and Ruiz scored on an error.
The Highlanders added a run with Kuni's home run in the top of the fifth.
Grayson also added a run in the bottom of the fifth as Ruiz doubled and scored on a single by Seidmeyer.
McLennan took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the seventh. Rose reached on an error, and Kuni walked. Lachance followed with a three-run home, and Sam Flores hit a solo home run.
The Highlanders also came from behind in the nightcap to defeat the Vikings 3-2. Kade Bing picked up the win, and John Carmichael got the save.
Grayson scored two in the bottom of the first. Ruiz walked, and Walker Polk followed with a two-run homer.
McLennan's first run came in the top of the fifth. Brecken Menuet walked advanced on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on another wild pitch.
The Highlanders scored two runs in the top of the ninth to steal the win. Harden, Rose and Kuni all singled. Harden scored on a sacrifice fly by Lachance, and Rose scored on a sacrifice fly by Flores.
