Highlanders pick up series win over Cisco
The McLennan Highlanders picked up the series win over the Cisco Wranglers with a doubleheader sweep this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
The Highlanders took game one 11-2 with Lucas Kelly getting the win on the mound.
Cisco scored both runs in the top of the second inning. Cole Clepper singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Tariq Freeny. Roe Forrest singled and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Jack Cue was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Damien Whitfield then singled to score Freeny an Forrest.
McLennan responded with 10 runs in the bottom of the inning. Brodey Williams walked and Sam Flores was hit by the pitch. Walker Freeman singled to load the bases, and Landon Underhill singled to score Williams and Flores. Brecken Menuet followed with a single to score Freeman, and Daniel Harden walked. Underhill scored on a wild pitch, and Mac Rose singled. Menuet was thrown out at the plate. Aidan Kuni then singled to score Harden, and Deiten Lachance singled to score Rose. Williams walked again, and Flores followed with a grand slam.
The Highlanders final run came in the bottom of the sixth. Harden singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Rose. Xander McAfee replace Rose as the runner at first. McAfee advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single by Lachance.
Game two was all McLennan with the Highlanders picking up a 10-0 run-rule victory. Alex Wallace got the win on the mound.
Four runs scored in the bottom of the first. Harden, Kuni and Lachance all singled. Flores then doubled to score Harden and Kuni, and Lachance scored on a sacrifice fly by Freeman. Marcus Smith then double to score Flores.
Another Highlander run scored in the second as Harden walked and scored on a double by Rose.
McLennan added four more in the third. Lachance led off with a triple and Flores walked. Freeman double to score Lachance, and Flores scored on a wild pitch. Freeman then scored on a sacrifice fly by Smith. Underhill tripled and scored on a double Hill by Harden.
The Highlanders scored one in the bottom of the sixth to secure the run rule. Harden singled and advanced on a wild pitch. Rose walked but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Kuni. Harden then scored on a sacrifice fly by Lachance to end the game.
